The School of History, Heritage and Society offers programs that provide you insights and understandings of the world we live in. We consider questions such as:

• How do societies function in local and global settings?

• How do societies outside Australia respond to change?

• What are the forces and great events that have shaped the modern world? How have different interpretations of the recent past emerged?

• What are the relationships between crime and major social and political structures governing our society?

• How do we identify and manage cultural heritage in situations of competing interests?

• How do we explain the changing nature of Australian identity?

• What are the main factors shaping people’s lives in national and international contexts?

Addressing these and other questions are the School’s disciplines of Anthropology, Australian Studies, Criminology, Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies, History and Sociology. We also encourage students to take advantage of the Study Abroad program, providing opportunities for a period of study overseas.
