The Sydney Irlen Dyslexia Centre assists children and adults with difficulties in the areas of: Reading, Learning, Spelling, Writing, Concentration and Behaviour. If you suffer with eye strain, fatigue and/or headaches when reading or when in bright light you may be suffering with a visual processing problem called Irlen Syndrome / Scotopic Sensitivity. This condition affects 10 - 20% of the population. It is not a problem with the eyes so it cannot be assessed by an optometrist or behavioural optometrist. Irlen Syndrome / Scotopic Sensitivity is a problem with how the brain processes the information that travels from the eyes through the brain. Assessments for Irlen Syndrome / Scotopic Sensitivity are only able to be carried out by certified Irlen Syndrome Diagnosticians, trained in the Irlen method. A referral is not necessary to book an appointment with us.
