The Northern School for Autism is a Victorian State Government specialist school that exclusively addresses the educationalneeds of students with AutismSpectrumDisorders. Theschool was established in 2006 to meet the growing needs of students with ASD in the Northern Metropolitan Region. Students who attend the Northern School for Autism must meetthe eligibility criteria set down by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, under the Programs for Students with Disabilities, in the category of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Once eligibility has been established, student enrolment may proceed.

Jacana Campus, with a current enrolment of 155 students, is located off the Western Ring Road close to public transport, Broadmeadows Shopping Centre, Broadmeadows Leisure Centre and the Hume Global Learning Centre/Library.

The site has well maintained, secure and recently upgraded playgrounds. These discrete playgrounds allow students to become engaged, develop play skills and build friendships with children of their own age. Students also access local parks, playgrounds and indoor play centres under staff supervision. The campus facilities include a multi purpose room, occupational therapy rooms and 2 kitchens which complement the individualized programming
