The Kooralbyn International School

Sydney Private Schools introduces The Kooralbyn International School in Kooralbyn, for all your education and learning needs.

The original TKIS opened in 1985 as a secondary boarding school in what is now the school's Lower Campus. The new school opened as a Prep to Year 12 coeducational, day and boarding school in 2004.

The official name of the school is The Kooralbyn International School, but lately it has come to be known locally as just: 'Kooralbyn School’

TKIS has always been a small school. Being small has its advantages and disadvantages, but throughout its history, TKIS has strived to be a school dedicated to excellence in both academic and sporting pursuits. From Prep to Year 12 our students take pride in their uniform, their behaviour and their respect for others. Academically, we have been listed twice in TOP 20 Schools in the State for Year 12 OP Results over last 5 years, and have consistently been in the Top 20% Schools in Queensland. In sporting events, almost 10% of all TKIS secondary students have competed at state or national level in their chosen sport over the last 5 years.

At Kooralbyn, our secondary school (and qualified primary school) students devote Fridays to pursuing their passion in the Mastery of their choice. Meanwhile, our small class sizes and ‘block’ timetable system ensure that classroom contact time still exceeds all requirements for academic subjects.

Academic Mastery: A Specialised University Preparation Program: extension and enrichment in English, Maths and Science - for students with high academic ambitions. (Available Secondary School only)

Athletics Mastery: A demanding athletics development program - for those wishing to pursue a representative career in Track & Field or sports in general. (Available Secondary School - Optional for Grade 7)

Aviation Mastery: A Pilot Training Program integrated directly into regular school classes - for those who want to learn to fly as a career path into the aviation industry.  (Available Secondary School only)

Drama; Performing & Media Arts Mastery: A unique skills development program - for those with a passion and interest in the professions of acting, drama, music and media.  (Available Secondary School only)

Equestrian Mastery: An elite sportsperson program - for those wishing to pursue a representative career in the Equine industry through competition and eventing.  (Available Secondary School only)

Golf Mastery: An extensive development program - for those wishing to pursue a career in the professional Golf industry. Former students include Adam Scott & Jason Day. (Available Secondary School - Optional for Grade 7)

Swimming Mastery: A demanding aquatic program - for those wishing to pursue a representative career in swimming or aquatic sports in general. (Available Secondary School and Optional for Grade 4 to 7)

Tennis Mastery: A demanding tennis development program - for those wishing to pursue a career in the professional Tennis industry. (Available Secondary School - Optional for Grade 7)

NOTE: Mastery Programs are included as part of Secondary School but are optional for Grade 4 to 7 students as listed above (and incur optional fees).
