Newtown Public School is situated next to Newtown High School of the Performing Arts. It is an inner city school with on site before and after school care. The school grounds provide open leafy space in a busy cosmopolitan suburb. The student population reflects the cultural and lifestyle diversity of the local community.

Our school was established in 1863, which makes our school 138 years old in 2001. At the beginning of the last century there was an enrolment of nearly 2000 students.

Currently there are 210 students at Newtown Public School and there are eight classes operating from Kindergarten to Year 6. About 31% of enrolments are from language backgrounds other than English. This component, which comprises fourteen different languages, has no dominant language group.

Newtown Public School provides strong foundations in Literacy and Numeracy and has a strong focus on visual and performing arts. Students’ learning is enriched through a broad range of academic, cultural and sporting opportunities.
